Bike paradise on the Alpe Cimbra

To cycle across one of the largest alpine pastures in the land of the Cimbrian people in Trentino, among fir trees and alpine lakes. To breathe the history and the traditions of a stunning mountain and admire the varied biodiversity of the Alps. This is Alpe Cimbra Bike.

The territory of Folgaria Lavarone Lusérn and Vigolana, offering more than 600 km of MTB trails, is an earthly paradise for all off-road disciplines.

Why choose the Alpe Cimbra?

All-mountain, enduro, cross-country. Cherry on top, the Bike Park in Lavarone for downhill and gravity, and the new FolgaRide Trail Center in Folgaria – opening in June 2023 – including a bike park, a pump track, and a mini bike park for kids aged 3-6: these are all the possible choices on the Alpe Cimbra to experience a dream biking holiday!

An exciting 10 km flow trail developing in the middle of the woods, with parabolic curves, jumps, and ups and downs.
The cycle paths are panoramic itineraries and are ideal for beginners and families, from the Luserna-Asiago cycle-pedestrian route, also known as the “cycle-pedestrian of the huts” due to the many mountain cottages along the way, to the cycle-pedestrian paths in the valley, which lead to Lake Garda and Trento city.

Sunny days never fail on the Alpe Cimbra in Trentino, and the MTB-season goes from May until early November. Our territory is tightly bound to the development of bike tourism and hosts some of the most important bike-related events.
The high-level bike offer on the territory includes kilometers and kilometers of mapped MTB-trails and itineraries, as well as bike hotels and residences featuring special services, well-stocked bike rentals, MTB instructors, e-bike charging stations, shuttle services, and a unique atmosphere.

What are the activities that can be done on the Alpe Cimbra?

Many are the activities planned by ApT Alpe Cimbra during the summer season: guided MTB excursions, MTB classes in the Bike Parks, bike tours of two or more days and overnight stay in hanging tent, sunrise-, sunset-, or night bike tours on the highest peaks, guided tours to Lake Garda, food bike tours, and much more.

Discover the perfect combination of historyfood and wine, and culture on the Alpe Cimbra for an all-round experience: the forts of the First World War – after which the popular 100 km dei Forti” is named –, Luserna – namely one of the most beautiful villages of Italy and the last Cimbrian linguistic island –, the many dairy farms, honey- and small fruits producers...not to mention the breathtaking views on Lake Caldonazzo and Levico, the trails crossing old villages with mills and sawmills, and the 60 km of the Vigolana bike tour.

Lake Lavarone has been awarded the Blue Flag of Europe and is a bike-friendly tourist destination: bikers can get their towel at the equipped beaches to enjoy a relaxing break and a swim in the crystal-clear waters before saddling up and keep riding.

Not to be forgotten, for road cycling enthusiasts, are the two great climbs offered by Alpe Cimbra, part of the Mythical Climbs of Trentino: the Calliano-Passo Coe (stage of the Giro d'Italia in 2002) and the Caldonazzo -Menador (Giro d'Italia 2022).

Alpe Cimbra offers unmissable itineraries for all racing bike lovers, who want to train or even just compete with these legendary places, locations of epic moments and unforgettable feats of great cycling.

Of particular note is the aforementioned Kaiserjägerweg (Menador road), a road built during the First World War by Austrian soldiers, barely touched by the 2022 Giro d'Italia, which leads from the lakes to the Vezzena plateau and then connects the territory with Alpe Cimbra, with an itinerary of 12 km and 1,000 m in altitude, offering a breathtaking view of the valley passing through tunnels dug into the rock.
